This is an extremely easy jjigae (찌개; stew) recipe that it is harder to fail than to succeed.
Not only is it easy, but due to it’s sweet and savory flavor,
I personally prefer ssamjang jjigae over doenjang and kimchi jjigae 🙂
Ingredients (2 servings):
2 cups of water
5-6 dried anchovies
1 1/2 generous spoons of ssamjang (쌈장; seasoned bean paste)
3 large jalapeños or any kind of pepper
1/2 small onion
1/3 zucchini
1 mushroom (optional)
tofu
Step 1. Put dried anchovies in a pot of water and boil for 15 minutes.
Step 2. Meanwhile, prepare the vegetables by cutting them into small chunks.
Step 3. Remove the anchovies and add vegetables and ssamjang.
Step 4. Stir and continue to boil until the onion turns translucent.
Step 5. Slice tofu into edible sizes and add them as well. Boil until tofu is cooked.
Enjoy with rice (and other dishes!).
[…] Ssamjang Jjigae (쌈장찌개; Seasoned Bean Paste Stew) Recipe […]
Thanks for sharing this recipe! I just made it and it’s really simple! But I used the regular bean paste with a bit of seasoned bean paste (cause I’m afraid it might become too spicy), and it came out really well with a spicy kick.
